Installation Guide and Maintenance
Proper installation is key to accuracy. Before gluing the insert, make sure the inside of the shaft is clean and free of carbon dust. I recommend using a cotton bud with isopropyl alcohol. Apply a moderate amount of adhesive to the insert and rotate it as you slide it into the shaft to ensure even coverage. Let the arrows cure vertically for at least 24 hours, preferably point-down, so the glue doesn't run further down the shaft.
What to Avoid:
- Super Glues: Unless you are very quick, CA glue can set before the insert is fully seated. Slow-cure epoxy is much more forgiving and durable.
- Poor Preparation: Skipping the cleaning step is the number one cause of inserts pulling out in the target.
- Levering Arrows: If an arrow is stuck in a target frame, do not wiggle it side-to-side. This puts immense stress on the carbon around the insert.
