Kukri Machete "The Workhorse" | 1055 Carbon Steel Survival Tool
Historical Roots, Modern Utility
The shape of this blade is steeped in history, originating from the traditional knives of the fierce Gurkha warriors of Nepal. Its brilliance lies in the forward-curved blade which shifts the centre of gravity significantly forward. This physics-based advantage means every swing carries tremendous kinetic energy, allowing the machete to "bite" deep into wood or vegetation with minimal effort from you. While historical originals were often ornate, this modern version focuses purely on rugged functionality and durability in the field.
Materials Built for Abuse
The blade is crafted from 1055 Carbon Steel. This steel is renowned for its toughness and ability to withstand shock and impact that would shatter lesser steels. It features a black, baked-on anti-rust finish that gives it a tactical look and protects against corrosion. The handle is made from durable polypropylene, designed to provide a secure grip even with wet hands or gloves. This handle material is practically indestructible—it won't crack, warp, or rot.

Care and Maintenance
To keep this tool in prime condition, it requires a little attention. 1055 Carbon Steel takes a great edge and is easy to sharpen, but it is not stainless.
- Clean and dry the blade thoroughly after every use.
- Regularly apply a thin coat of oil (e.g., gun oil or 3-in-1 oil) to the blade to prevent rust.
- Never wash the machete in a dishwasher!
- Use a sharpening stone or a puck to maintain the edge.
Safety Warning
This machete is a heavy-duty tool capable of inflicting serious injury. Always ensure you have plenty of clearance when swinging and that no one is standing in your path. Due to the weight-forward design, the swing is faster and harder than you might expect. This is not a toy for reenactment combat or HEMA sparring; steel-on-steel contact will damage the edge. Be careful when re-sheathing the blade into the Cor-Ex™ sheath.
A portable sharpening stone would be an excellent addition to your kit to keep this machete razor-sharp in the field.
