Detailed Description and Usage
This weapon is designed specifically for LARP (Live Action Role Play) and cosplay. It is a high-quality foam replica that withstands intense combat thanks to its fibreglass core and durable polyurethane foam. The Takeshi model represents the classic long sword, the primary weapon of the samurai, symbolizing their soul and status.
The blade is painted silver with a distinct fuller (hi), giving it the realistic look of steel. However, the highlight of the weapon is the handle (tsuka). Unlike cheaper replicas, this sword features a real fabric wrap (tsukamaki) in black, ensuring a firm and authentic grip that won't slip even in a sweaty palm. The guard (tsuba) and pommel (kashira) are finished in antique gold and decorated with fine oriental reliefs.
Historical Context
In the Edo period, the katana was considered the "soul of the samurai." It was a weapon designed for open combat, worn edge-up tucked into the belt (obi). For a warrior, losing their sword meant losing their honour. Care Instructions and Safety
To maintain the longevity and appearance of your weapon, we recommend the following care:
- Maintenance: Regularly treat the blade with silicone spray to keep the foam flexible and prevent it from drying out. Keep the fabric wrap on the handle dry and clean.
- Storage: Store the weapon in a dry, shaded place. Avoid long-term exposure to direct sunlight and high temperatures.
- Safety: The weapon is designed for simulated combat (slashing). Never use it for thrusting (unless event rules explicitly allow it) and avoid aiming for the opponent's head or neck. If the foam is damaged and the fibreglass core is exposed, retire the weapon immediately.
For a perfect look, we recommend completing the sword with a suitable sword frog and an Asian-style costume.
