The beauty of this sword lies in the perfect harmony of its parts. Its most striking feature is the massive octagonal wheel pommel, which gives the sword its name and was classified by Ewart Oakeshott as Type I1. The grip also features an octagonal cross-section, ensuring an exceptionally comfortable and secure hold. The hilt is completed by a gracefully curved crossguard with spatulated tips, which elegantly sweeps towards the blade. The blade itself is a classic example of a knightly arming sword – it is broad, with a deep and distinct fuller for optimal balance, and tapers smoothly to a safe point that is also reinforced with Kevlar.

• Blade Length: 70 or 80 cm, with the option for custom shortening.
• Sword Core: Choose from three types of fibreglass cores based on your preferred stiffness – rectangular 15x6 mm, a stiffer 16x8 mm, or a 10mm round core.
• Colours: Select the colour of the leather grip wrap from a wide palette (black, brown, red, green, blue).
• Optional Accessories: Can be supplied with one of five types of leather scabbards (see product gallery).

How to Care For Your Weapon

A royal sword deserves royal care.

• It was forged to defeat foes, not to fight rocks or trees. Avoid hitting hard and sharp objects.
• Give it space during storage to prevent deformation.
• Minor damage to the foam can be easily repaired with a flexible superglue (we recommend Loctite Super Glue Power Flex Gel).
• However, remember that a broken core is a wound that not even a royal physician can heal.

A Piece of History in Your Hands

One-handed swords of this type were the quintessential weapon of the knight in the High Gothic period. As plate armour became the standard, this sword served as a personal sidearm, a status symbol, and the last line of defence when a knight lost his polearm. The Type I1 pommel, as described by Ewart Oakeshott, is typical of the 14th and 15th centuries. To own such a sword was to be part of the elite – the warrior aristocracy that decided the fates of battles and kingdoms.
