Njorn is a high-quality foam weapon specifically crafted for Live Action Role Play (LARP). Visuals and Construction
With a total length of approx. 41.3 inches (105 cm) and a weight of approx. 1.1 lbs (490 g), this sword feels balanced and powerful in your hand. The silver-painted blade features a distinct central fuller, which mimics historical weight-saving techniques.
The hilt is where the sword truly stands out:
- The Grip: Black-coloured to provide a striking contrast and a look of leather wrapping.
- Guard and Pommel: The short crossguard and the classic lobed pommel are finished in antique silver and decorated with intricate knotwork patterns. This design draws inspiration from Norse art and craftsmanship.
Historical Inspiration
The design of the Njorn sword is inspired by historical finds from the Viking Age, resembling the types classified by Jan Petersen (such as Type S or O). The multi-lobed pommel is a hallmark of swords used across Scandinavia and the British Isles during the 9th and 10th centuries. In that era, a sword was a significant status symbol, and the knotwork decoration would have signified the owner's wealth and standing.

Care and Safety Instructions
To ensure Njorn stays by your side for many battles, proper care is essential. The sword is built around a durable fibreglass core encased in soft foam.
- Maintenance: Regularly apply silicone spray to the blade and hilt. This prevents the foam from drying out and keeps the surface smooth and flexible.
- Storage: Do not leave the sword in direct sunlight or extreme heat for extended periods, as UV rays can damage the material.
- Safety: While this is a padded weapon, avoid full-force thrusting (stabbing) and do not strike hard, abrasive surfaces like concrete or trees. Always check the condition of the foam before use.
