Polish Hussar Sabre (Szabla) for LARP / PU Foam Sabre
Appearance and Construction
This sabre is characterized by its gracefully curved, single-edged blade designed for devastating cutting attacks. Its most distinctive feature is the open, "L-shaped" hilt. A simple crossguard is extended at a right angle to form a sturdy knuckle-bow. The grip is slightly curved, allowing for a firm and natural hold for delivering a cut. The entire hilt is cast from durable yet semi-flexible rubber, ensuring high durability without sharp edges.
The Heart of the Hussar
Inside this elegant weapon lies a modern and durable construction that ensures great performance and safety in battle:
- Curved Core: A durable 15x6 mm fibreglass core follows the blade's graceful curve.
- Kevlar Tip: The blade tip is reinforced with Kevlar for maximum resistance to piercing through.
- Perfect Balance: Steel and lead are cast into the handle, giving the weapon authentic weight and excellent balance for fast and precise handling.
Available Versions:
- Blade Length: 50 to 70 cm.
- Grip Colour: Black / Brown.
- Hilt Colour: Steel / Graphite / Brass.
- Optional Accessories: Without scabbard / Including scabbard Type I, II, or III (see product gallery).
Use in Combat: A Dance of Steel
Fighting with a sabre was often compared to a dance. It is a weapon for quick lunges, deceptive manoeuvres, and lightning-fast cuts. It is much lighter than Western swords, allowing for longer and less fatiguing combat. Its curvature increases the efficiency of cutting strikes. Thanks to its construction and balance, this LARP version is ideal for dynamic fencing and for anyone who wants to dominate the battlefield with speed.
How to Care For Your Weapon
A sabre is a proud weapon and deserves proper care.
- The blade is meant for cutting foam foes, not rocks, trees, or walls.
- Do not leave it compressed for long periods during storage.
- Minor damage to the foam can be easily repaired with a flexible superglue (we recommend Loctite Super Glue Power Flex Gel).
- However, remember that a broken core is a wound that cannot be healed.
A Piece of History in Your Hands
The sabre is a national symbol of Poland and the weapon that defined its military history for several centuries. From the 16th century, it became the primary weapon of the Polish cavalry, including the famed Winged Hussars, who celebrated victories over the Ottomans, Swedes, and Muscovites with it. The Polish sabre design was so effective that it influenced the development of cavalry sabres across Europe, including the famous British 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Sabre. To hold this sabre is to hold a piece of the history of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, its pride, and its military glory.
Safety First
Even though this is a safe foam weapon, always use it responsibly. Never aim for the head, neck, or other sensitive areas. Use appropriate protective gear.
