Viking Axe for LARP / PU Foam Axe

Appearance and Construction

This axe immediately catches the eye with its classic shape, featuring a wide blade and an extended lower section, the so-called "beard", which was ideal for hooking shields and weapons. The head has a flat poll on the back, which could be used as a hammer. The entire weapon is made as a single piece of foam over a durable core, which increases its lifespan. The haft surface has a realistic wood grain texture, and a simulated wooden securing wedge is even visible in the eye of the axe for maximum authenticity.

The Berserker's Hidden Strength

Beneath the surface of this all-foam weapon lies a sophisticated construction for maximum performance and durability:

  • Fibreglass Core: A strong round core forms the weapon's spine.
  • Steel Counterweight: A 15 cm steel tube is embedded in the handle, acting as a counterweight and giving the axe excellent manoeuvrability and the feel of a real weapon.
  • Reinforced Head: Additionally, there is a rubber tube inside the foam head, which significantly increases its resistance to wear and tear from chopping blows.

Available Versions:

  • Head Colour: steel / graphite

Use in Combat: Break the Shield Wall!

The axe was a terror in battle. Its weight, concentrated in the head, could split a wooden shield with ease, and a single blow could be fatal. At 70 cm, this LARP version is an ideal one-handed weapon. It is long enough for effective combat, yet short enough not to be cumbersome in tight spaces. It is a weapon for a direct, raw, and uncompromising fighting style.

How to Care For Your Weapon

To ensure your axe survives many raids, give it the proper care.

  • It was made to break shields, not rocks. Avoid hitting hard and sharp objects to prevent damaging the foam blade.
  • When storing, do not leave the weapon compressed for long periods.
  • Minor damage to the foam can be easily repaired with a flexible superglue (we recommend Loctite Super Glue Power Flex Gel).
  • However, remember that a broken core is a wound that cannot be healed.

A Piece of History in Your Hands

For the Vikings, the axe was much more than just a weapon – it was a universal tool for survival. They built ships and houses with it, felled trees, and worked wood. Every free man owned an axe, and therefore, learned to fight with it. Unlike the sword, which was the expensive weapon of the nobility (the jarls), the axe was the true weapon of the people. In the hands of a skilled warrior, it became a terrifying instrument whose power and ferocity we associate with the Viking raiders to this day.

Safety First

Even though this is a safe foam weapon, always use it responsibly. Thanks to its solid construction and balance, it can deliver a palpable hit. Never aim for the head, neck, or other sensitive areas. Use appropriate protective gear.
