Medieval Linen Fillet "Dame Éléonore" – 14th Century Headband
The Foundation of Medieval Headwear
In the Middle Ages, particularly in the 14th century, head dressing was a symbol of status and propriety. A fillet is a strip of fabric tied around the head. The "Dame Éléonore" model is designed with functionality in mind:
- Construction: A wide strip of fabric across the forehead (approx. 10 cm / 3 7/8 in) tapers towards the back and features four tie straps. This allows for various tying methods and a secure fit on the head without slipping.
- Versatility: You can wear it alone (common folk, workwear) or use it as an anchor point for pinning veils, wimples, or barbettes.
Material of Your Choice
We offer this product in two material variants to suit your needs and skin sensitivity:
- 100% Linen (150 gsm): The most historically authentic choice. Linen is breathable, wicks away moisture, and softens with every wash. It has a characteristic irregular fibre structure.
- Cotton-Linen Blend (87% Cotton, 13% Linen): A modern, softer alternative. It wrinkles less and feels very pleasant to the touch, which you will appreciate during all-day wear.
