Thanks to its specific half-moon (semicircle) shape, this wimple is ideal for creating layered headwear. You can wear it in two primary ways:
- As a Wimple (Chin Clout): Pin it under your chin to create an elegant covering for the neck and décolletage that frames your face. This style was typical for married women and widows.
- As a Veil: Drape it over the crown of your head, perhaps over a linen coif. Due to its smaller size, it won't get in the way during work while creating a light, airy protection for your hair.
This piece is made from breathable material in a natural colour (undyed look), corresponding to historical reality where bright white fabrics were a privilege of the wealthy. You can choose from two fabric options:
- 100% Linen (150 gsm): For maximum historical accuracy. Linen wicks away moisture perfectly, keeps you cool, and is naturally durable.

Care Instructions
Linen and blend accessories require gentle care to stay beautiful for a long time:
- Hand wash or machine wash on a gentle cycle (max. 30–40 °C / 86-104 °F).
- Use a mild detergent without bleach.
- Do not tumble dry; let air dry naturally (ideally flat to maintain shape).
- Iron on a medium setting, ideally while the fabric is slightly damp.
Usage Recommendations
Please note that the wimple will not stay on your head by itself. You will need veil pins or a fillet to secure it. Be careful when handling pins to avoid injury or damaging the delicate fabric. The material is flammable, so please keep a safe distance from open flames.
