Loose Riveted Chainmail Rings – Natural Finish, 9 mm (1 kg)
Does the idea of hand-crafting a chainmail hauberk that fits you perfectly appeal to you? Or do you need to repair authentic armour and want the result to shine like new? This set of loose steel rings with a natural finish is exactly what you are looking for. With an inner diameter of 9 mm and a wire thickness of 1.2 mm (18 Gauge), this is a finer mesh that is significantly lighter than "heavy-duty" variants. Loose Riveted Chainmail Rings – Natural Finish, 9 mm (1 kg)
The Gleam of Steel and Honest Craftsmanship
The rings are made of round wire with flattened ends featuring a pre-drilled hole for the rivet. They are connected using the included dome rivets. This type of connection is historically accurate and ensures high tensile strength – the rings won't pull apart like basic "butted" rings. The natural finish means the steel is neither blackened nor galvanized. It has the authentic silver-grey colour of raw steel. This looks great on "clean" knights and paladins, but it requires proper care.

Crafting and Maintenance Tips
Since this is raw mild steel, it is susceptible to corrosion. * **Storage:** The rings will arrive coated in preservation oil. Do not degrease them all at once unless you plan to use them immediately. * **Maintenance:** The finished armour must be treated regularly (WD40, silicone oil, Ballistol), especially after events where it has been exposed to sweat or rain. If surface rust appears, it can be easily removed in a tumbling barrel or with a steel brush. * **Tools:** Don't forget that you need special pliers shaped for dome rivets to close these rings properly.
Recommendation
This size (9 mm) combines excellently with our solid (punched) flat rings of the same diameter. If you alternate a row of riveted rings with a row of solid rings, you will save half the riveting work and obtain very durable armour.
