Tactical 26" Expandable Steel Baton with Rotating Crossguard
The History of Impact Weapons and Modern Development
The expandable baton is a modern evolution of classic police truncheons. While law enforcement officers historically relied on solid wooden sticks, modern times demand maximum compactness and concealability. This model, equipped with a crossguard, loosely references traditional Asian police weapons like the jitte or the tonfa, where pronounced hand protection plays a key role in blocking incoming strikes. The deployment mechanism operates on the principle of friction resistance (known as a friction lock) – to deploy the baton, a sharp and rapid flick of the wrist downwards or to the side is sufficient, causing the steel tubes to wedge firmly into one another.
Handling, Closing, and Safety Warnings
The crossguard of the baton can be rotated and locked into the desired position according to your current needs. Once the weapon is deployed, you close it by gripping the handle and striking the hardened tip vertically and forcefully against a hard surface (e.g., concrete or paving stones). Never attempt to push the baton closed using sheer hand strength, as there is a risk of pinching your skin or damaging the mechanism. From a safety perspective, we must strongly emphasize that strikes with a steel baton can cause serious or even fatal injuries (especially if striking the head or neck). Use the weapon exclusively within the strict limits of necessary self-defence or extreme emergency. To master the correct habits, we strongly recommend practicing your strikes on soft heavy bags.
Care and Maintenance of the Weapon
To ensure the telescopic mechanism functions smoothly and reliably, it is advisable to keep the steel segments dry and clean. After use in a damp environment or in the rain, always wipe the baton thoroughly dry. Only exceptionally and in very small quantities should you treat the friction surfaces with a drop of silicone oil; if over-lubricated, the tubes would lose their friction resistance and the baton would collapse upon impact. The rubber grip can simply be washed with lukewarm water if it becomes dirty.
