Medieval Leather Belt with Templar Crosses, Brown
An Accessory for Your Historical Garb
This belt is the ideal accessory for girding your tunic, surcoat, or light gambeson. Its width of approximately 1 inch (2.6 cm) is optimal for most historical garments and does not restrict movement. Thanks to its considerable length and numerous holes, you can wear it in the traditional medieval fashion—cinched at the waist with the long end hanging down freely. It is perfectly suited for events like LARP, historical fairs, fantasy festivals, or as part of your knightly kit.
A Tidbit from History: Belts as a Symbol of Status
In the Middle Ages, belts were more than just practical accessories for holding up clothing or hanging a weapon and a purse. They were, above all, a significant symbol of social status and wealth. Only the richest could afford ornate belts made from expensive materials. The length of the belt itself was a sign of prosperity—a long belt, with its end reaching down to the knees after being tied, was a clear signal that its owner had not skimped on expensive, high-quality leather.

How to Care for Your Belt
To ensure your belt maintains its beauty and strength for years to come, give it a little care.
Basic Maintenance
From time to time (every few months, or when it feels dry), treat the leather with a leather conditioner or balsam. Apply a small amount of the product with a soft cloth and rub it into the surface in a circular motion. The metal parts can simply be wiped with a dry cloth to prevent oxidation.
What to Avoid
Never soak the belt in water. If it does get wet, allow it to dry naturally at room temperature, either hanging freely or lying flat. Definitely do not dry it on a radiator or in direct sunlight, as the leather could harden and crack. Also, avoid using harsh chemical cleaners, which could damage both the leather and the patina on the metal parts. When not in use, store the belt loosely coiled or hanging to prevent it from creasing or breaking.
