Tactical Black Boot Dagger with Integrated Fire Starter and Sheath
Historical Legacy and Modern Tactical Use
The concept of the boot dagger has deep historical roots. From the Scottish sgian-dubh knives hidden in knee socks to the famous British Fairbairn-Sykes commando daggers of World War II, a concealed backup weapon has always been a key piece of kit. This modern piece builds upon that historical legacy. The dagger is equipped with a pronounced double-sided crossguard that safely protects your fingers from slipping onto the blade during thrusting techniques. The central fuller (groove) on the blade not only reduces the overall weight of the knife but also increases its structural rigidity.
Practical Application and Fire Starter Usage
The dagger is supplied with a tactical plastic sheath that features a series of holes and slots along its perimeter. These openings are primarily used to securely tie the sheath to your calf, boot, tactical vest, or backpack using paracord or straps. The knife itself is securely held in the sheath by friction. On the side of the sheath, there is a practical ferrocerium fire starter. To strike a fire, simply press the spine of the blade (never the sharp edge!) against the fire starter rod and forcefully scrape downwards to throw hot sparks into your prepared dry tinder.
Safety Warnings
For safety reasons, we must strongly emphasize that this dagger features a sharp blade. Under no circumstances is it a weapon intended for historical contact fencing, stage combat, or martial arts sparring (HEMA). The product is designed as a utility outdoor tool and collector's item. Always use it with maximum caution, at your own risk, and avoid causing any danger to yourself or those around you.
Caring for Your Dagger
The blade is made of the popular 420 stainless steel, which is well-known for its high resistance to corrosion and easy maintenance. Nevertheless, we recommend rinsing the dagger after any heavy use (especially after contact with acidic environments or salt water), drying it carefully, and occasionally treating it with a light film of preserving gun oil. The anti-reflective black coating protects the steel, but it can be scratched with rough handling or during sharpening. Use high-quality ceramic or diamond sharpeners to maintain the edge.
Recommended Accessories
With this backup knife, we highly recommend purchasing high-quality parachute cord (paracord) in a matching color, which will give you countless options for attaching the sheath to your gear. A compact pocket sharpener is also a great addition for your travels to keep the blade in perfect condition.
