Impressive Survival Bowie Knife with Sawback and Wide Guard
Historical and Pop-Culture Context of the Weapon
Classic Bowie knives originated in the first half of the 19th century on the American frontier and served as an uncompromising tool for survival and self-defence. This particular model, however, takes strong inspiration from the cult survival knives made famous by Hollywood action blockbusters of the 1980s. The aggressive sawback, which on real military knives was used to cut through aircraft fuselages, and the distinct weight-reduction cutouts in the blade give the weapon a rugged, tactical appearance. The wide guard references classic weapons where hand protection was an absolute priority.
Use and Safety Warnings
The blade is made of 420 stainless steel. This material is highly popular for its excellent corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. The knife is intended for common camp chores, lopping small branches, or food preparation. As an experienced fencer, however, I must warn you: the knife has a sharp blade and is not intended for historical contact fencing, combat training, or man-to-man duelling for safety reasons. Any careless handling risks serious injury. Furthermore, do not use the knife as a pry bar to avoid damaging the handle scales or the blade itself.
Care for the Blade and Wooden Handle
Maintaining this massive knife is very easy thanks to the materials used. After every use, especially if the blade has come into contact with moisture, plant sap, or blood, wash it and wipe it dry with a clean cloth. The handle material is Pakka wood. This is a highly durable, resin-impregnated composite that withstands weathering well. Nevertheless, we do not recommend soaking the knife in water for extended periods. To maintain its perfect appearance, you can occasionally coat the blade with a fine gun oil, which will give it a beautiful shine. Always carry the knife safely stowed and secured in the supplied nylon sheath.
Recommended Accessories
To maintain the perfect sharpness of your new Bowie knife, we recommend purchasing a high-quality pocket diamond sharpener or whetstone from our range, ensuring your blade is always ready for action.
