The typical Bowie knife originates from the working and combat knives used during the rugged era of the legendary Wild West around 1800. To ensure the knife serves you well for a long time, proper care is required. Although the blade is made of stainless steel, we recommend cleaning it with a damp cloth after each outdoor use, drying it thoroughly, and occasionally applying a light coat of gun oil. The olive wood handle is a natural material; to maintain its beautiful grain and prevent cracking, treat it periodically with linseed oil or beeswax. Keep the leather sheath in top condition by applying leather balm. Never wash the knife in a dishwasher, as the high heat and aggressive chemicals will irreparably damage both the wood and the metal.
