Solid Flat Chainmail Rings – Blackened, 9 mm (1 kg)
Do you want to craft your own chainmail armour but dread the idea of riveting tens of thousands of rings? We have a historically accurate "hack" for you that was used by ancient Romans and medieval armourers alike. These solid (punched) flat rings will save you exactly half the riveting work. Historically, mail construction often consisted of alternating rows: one row was made of these solid rings (which do not open), and only the second row was woven into them and riveted. The result is extremely durable armour created in half the time. Further product information ...

Solid Flat Chainmail Rings – Blackened, 9 mm (1 kg)
Durability Without Weak Points
These rings are essentially washers stamped from sheet metal. They have no join or seam that could burst open upon weapon impact, making them the strongest link in your armour. With an inner diameter of 9 mm, they are compatible with our riveted rings of the same size. The blackened finish gives them a rugged look and basic rust protection, which you will especially appreciate for LARP or costumes for mercenaries and dark warriors. This set is ideal for: * **Faster Armor Construction:** By combining with riveted rings (1:1 ratio), you save hundreds of hours of labour. * **Increased Durability:** A solid ring cannot be torn open. * **Historical Accuracy:** This method of weaving was common throughout most of the Middle Ages.

Maintenance
The rings are made of carbon steel and are oiled to prevent corrosion. Despite the blackening, the finished armour must be kept oiled (use WD40, Ballistol, or mineral oil) and stored in a dry place. We recommend wiping the rings with a cloth before first use to prevent staining the clothing worn underneath the armour.
