Although we primarily perceive the karambit as a modern tactical knife today, its roots reach deep into the history of Southeast Asia, specifically Indonesia and the Philippines. Originally, it was a purely agricultural tool whose shape imitated the claw of a big cat. It was used for cutting roots, harvesting crops, and planting rice. Only over time, due to its exceptional ability to deliver deep slashing wounds, was it integrated into traditional martial arts such as Pencak Silat. The safety ring at the pommel, into which the index or little finger is inserted, prevented the weapon from being disarmed and allowed for rapid transitions between various grips.

Modern Materials and Practical Application

The blade of this knife is forged from high-quality 440 stainless steel, which retains its edge well and is highly resistant to corrosion. The handle scales, made from the modern composite G10, boast immense mechanical durability and, thanks to their fine texture, provide a secure grip even in wet conditions. The knife is housed in a rugged plastic sheath that securely fixes the blade in place; utilizing the attachment eyelets, it can be easily mounted onto your belt or tactical gear.

Safety and Proper Care

Please bear in mind that this knife is supplied with a fully sharpened blade. From a safety perspective, it is absolutely unsuitable for contact fencing, man-to-man combat drills, or duelling. For such purposes, exclusively blunt training weapons made of rubber or aluminium must be used. Always handle the knife with the utmost caution and consideration for your safety and that of others. Do not use the tip of the knife to pry hard materials, as this could cause the tip to snap off.

To ensure the knife serves you well for a long time, we recommend wiping it dry after every use. Even though it is made of stainless steel, an occasional drop of high-quality gun oil will benefit the blade. The knife must never be put in a dishwasher, and the plastic sheath should be protected from extreme temperatures (e.g., behind a car window in high summer) which could warp it.
