Goldsborough Fibula, Viking Brooch, brass

In 1859, a Viking hoard was discovered in the northern English village of Goldsborough (North Yorkshire). Among the finds were the original on which this fibula is modeled, as well as other brooch fragments and 39 coins dating from 700 to 1050 A.D. This hoard is one of the largest ever found in England and is now held at the British Museum in London.
