Wooden Smoking Pipe 'The Wandering Artist' with Marble Bowl
A Stylish and Functional Accessory
This tobacco pipe from House of Warfare is a masterful combination of materials. The body of the pipe, including the bowl and the decorated stem, is made from solid hardwood with a beautiful brown finish. The part of the stem near the bowl is decorated with turned rings for a better, more secure grip. The black mouthpiece provides an elegant contrast.
The most distinctive feature is the tobacco chamber (bowl) insert made of real marble. This stone element has several advantages:
- Durability: Unlike wood, marble will not burn through, which significantly extends the life of the pipe.
- Cooler Smoke: Stone naturally absorbs some of the heat, which can contribute to a cooler, smoother smoke.
- Easy Maintenance: The smooth surface of the stone is much easier to clean than porous wood.
The pipe is fully functional and ready to use. It is an ideal accessory for your LARP character (mage, hobbit, ranger, merchant), for a fantasy costume, or as a stylish piece for re-enactment enthusiasts of periods when pipe smoking became popular (primarily from the 17th century onwards).
Pipes and Tobacco in History
The practice of smoking tobacco from pipes spread to Europe after the discovery of the Americas in the 16th century. Initially, clay pipes were the most common. Wooden pipes as we know them today (especially those made from briar wood) only became widely popular in the 19th century. This pipe's style combines a rustic look with an elegance that fits well in a historical camp or a fantasy tavern.

How to Care for Your Pipe
To ensure your pipe serves you well for a long time, you should follow a few principles:
- Breaking In: Although the pipe has a marble bowl, the wooden parts are new. Be cautious for the first few smokes; smoke slowly and don't let the pipe get too hot.
- Cleaning: Clean the pipe after every smoke (once it has completely cooled down!). Use pipe cleaners to run through the smoke channel. Gently empty the bowl of ash and tobacco remnants.
- Resting: Never smoke from the same pipe multiple times a day. The pipe needs time to dry out from the absorbed moisture.
- What Not to Do: Never disassemble the pipe while it is hot – this could damage the tenon. Never wash the pipe with water.
