The Blowgun – A Silent Weapon of the Ages

The blowgun is one of humanity's oldest weapons. Its roots go back thousands of years to the jungles of Southeast Asia and the Amazon. There, indigenous tribes used it for generations as a silent and deadly weapon for hunting small game, such as monkeys, birds, or rodents. Thanks to its silence, it did not scare away the rest of the prey and allowed the hunter to remain hidden.

A Point of Interest: The Poison Called Curare

To make the blowgun effective against larger game, the tips of the darts were often coated with poison. The most famous is undoubtedly curare, a powerful neurotoxin obtained from vines and plants in the Amazon rainforest. This poison did not spoil the meat but acted as a muscle relaxant that paralyzed the animal's respiratory system. The production of curare was a complex ritual, the secrets of which were carefully guarded by the individual tribes. Of course, our darts are purely for sport and contain no poison!

How to Handle the Darts

Proper handling will extend the life of the darts and ensure safe shooting. Before each shot, check that the needle is not bent. A bent dart flies inaccurately and can damage the blowgun. If this happens, carefully straighten it with pliers or, better yet, discard it. After shooting, store the darts in the original packaging or in a box to prevent them from getting lost and to avoid accidental injury from their sharp points.
