The blowgun or blowpipe has a long history that spans the globe. Many authorities believe it was first invented in Malaysia and migrated through the Malaysian and Indonesian archipelagos to the Philippines and even Japan. The blowgun, however, was not justa southeastern weapon; it also surfaced in the western hemisphere in the jungles of South and Central America, moving as far north as the southeastern United States. Cold Steel's Big Bore® Blowguns feature large caliber .625 Magnum barrels that make them capable of shooting darts that are faster and heavier than other models on the market today! They have an effective range out to 20 yards (abt. 18 m) or more and, with practice, a skilled user can hit a two-inch circle at amazing distances and deliver a heavyweight dart capable of penetrating a half-inch sheet of plywood.
Cold Steel's Big Bore® blowguns are incredibly easy to carry in the field. They're relatively lightweight and, because theycome with a rubber ferrule, they make an excellent hiking staff. But if you are looking for a more convenient tool that can bestowed in a pack, Cold Steel has the solution! The 2-piece, five-foot take-down model is comprised of two tubes withthreaded joints and a reinforcing coupling section. It is equal to a regular five-foot model in terms of stiffness, accuracy andlong-range performance, but has the added advantage of being easy to disassemble and pack.
