This beautiful, richly ornamented replica of a Roman dagger is an example of great craftsmanship. Both the riveted handle and the front cover of the scabbard feature a very elaborate silver inlay. The wooden scabbard is leather-wrapped, with the four characteristic riveted brass suspension rings for proper fastening to the belt. The blade has a total of four narrow fullers tapering together toward the point. The edges are not sharpened. Further product information ...

Pugio from Vindonissa with silver inlay

Our reproduction is modelled on an archeological find from the Roman legionary camp of Vindonissa, now Windisch, Switzerland. The pommel displays a trident, the symbol of Neptune, the Roman god of the sea. This may suggest that this Pugio was originally crafted for an officer of the Roman naval forces.
