How the Trammel Hook Works

This tool consists of two interlocking forged parts. Its use is intuitive and effective:

1. Hang the top loop of the hook from your campfire tripod or a crossbar over your hearth.
2. Attach the handle (bail) of your cauldron, kettle, or grill grate to the bottom hook.
3. To change the height, simply lift the main toothed arm slightly to disengage the catch.
4. Slide the arm up or down to the desired height and let the catch lock into a new tooth.

This way, you can instantly regulate your cooking temperature—lower for high heat and boiling, higher for low heat and simmering. It's essentially the medieval thermostat for your field kitchen.
