Symbolism and History: Sword and Faith
The dominant feature of the shield is the red Cross of Saint James (Cruz de Santiago). This unique heraldic symbol resembles a dagger or sword – the lower arm is shaped like a blade, while the side arms and the top end in fleurs-de-lis. Originally the emblem of a 12th-century military order that protected pilgrims on the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago), it symbolizes the union of faith and martial prowess. The red color traditionally signifies the blood shed by Christ and martyrs.
The shape of the shield is based on classic medieval heater shields, but the top edge is decoratively shaped into three points, a style sometimes referred to as the "Swiss style" or late Gothic variation. This shape was favored for its aesthetic appeal in heraldry.
Installation and Usage

Care Instructions
Stainless steel is a very low-maintenance material. A soft duster is usually sufficient for cleaning. If you want to polish the surface to a perfect mirror shine, use a microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and rough sponges, as they could scratch the polished surface.

Warning! Although the shield looks sturdy, it is strictly a decorative replica. It is NOT intended for fencing, LARP, buhurt, or any other contact activities. The material is not hardened for combat, and blows would cause irreversible damage. The metal edges can be thin, so please handle with care when hanging it up.
