Stainless Steel Shield of El Cid Campeador – Knight on Horseback

History and Symbolism: The Master of the Battlefield

The dominant feature of the shield is the brass appliqué depicting Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, known as El Cid Campeador (The Master Warrior). The scene captures the hero in full armor on his legendary horse Babieca, charging into battle with a lance in hand. In the background, castle walls rise, symbolizing the conquest of Valencia and Castilian fortresses in the 11th century. This image is not just a decoration, but a story of invincibility and loyalty stamped in metal.

The shape of the shield is based on classic heater shields with a top edge decoratively shaped into three points. The golden color of the brass against the silver steel background looks luxurious and evokes the sun over the Spanish plains.

Installation and Usage

The shield is designed exclusively as a wall decoration. The back is painted black for protection and equipped with a sturdy metal chain, allowing you to easily and safely hang it on a hook or nail. The shield is bordered by decorative brass rivets, which underscore its historical appearance. Thanks to the high polish of the steel, the shield will become the center of attention in any room.

Safety Warning

Important Warning: This product is a decorative replica. It is NOT intended for fencing, buhurt, LARP, or any other contact activities. The construction is not designed to withstand weapon blows, and using it in combat would result in destruction of the shield and possible injury to the user. The metal edges can be thin, so please handle with care.

A replica of the Tizona or Colada swords, the legendary weapons of El Cid, would be the perfect match for this shield on your wall.
