Installation and Usage Guide
Using the crank is simple, but following the correct procedure is vital for safety. Based on the manufacturer's manual:
- Preparation: Ensure the crossbow safety is in the "FIRE" position before attempting to cock it. It will automatically move to "SAFE" once cocked.
- Mounting: Place the winch unit into the specific socket hole located on the top of the adjustable buttstock.
- Secure: Place your foot firmly in the stirrup to secure the crossbow against the ground.
- Attach Sled: Press the "Release Button" to free the spool and pull the cocking sled towards the string. Ensure the catches hook onto the bowstring from underneath.
- Cranking: Attach the handle (left or right side). Crank clockwise in a smooth motion. Continue until you hear the audible click of the safety engaging and the string latch activating.
- Removal: While applying slight pressure to the crank handle, press the release button and turn the handle counter-clockwise to slacken the cord. Remove the sled from the string and the device from the stock.
Maintenance and Safety Warning
To keep your PSE Winch in top condition, regularly inspect the cocking ropes for any signs of fraying or wear. If damage is found, do not use the device until the ropes are replaced. Keep the mechanism free of dirt and debris.
CRITICAL WARNING: Do not use this cocking device to uncock (decock) your crossbow! This device is designed for cocking only. Attempting to use it to let the string down can cause serious injury to the user and catastrophic damage to the crossbow and the winch mechanism. Always use a discharge bolt or a target to safely decock your crossbow.
