Why Use a Crossbow Stringer?
Stringing a crossbow by hand is not only physically demanding but also dangerous. It carries a risk of injury and can lead to uneven limb tension, resulting in poor accuracy and, in the worst case, damage to the limbs. This tool allows you to apply the necessary force in a controlled manner, ensuring the bowstring is seated perfectly symmetrically. It's a small investment that protects both you and your equipment.
How to Use the Stringer
The process is intuitive and fast. Follow the illustrated instructions as outlined below:
- Attach the polymer saddles of the stringer to the dedicated notches on both limb tips of your crossbow.
- Grip the stringer's cord (much like the bowstring) and draw it back to cock the crossbow into the latched position. This will flex the limbs and shorten the distance between their tips.
- The slack created allows you to easily place the actual bowstring onto its correct position on the limb tips.
- Point the crossbow in a safe direction, disengage the safety, and pull the trigger. This will release the stringer from the latch.
- Remove the stringer from the limbs. Your crossbow is now correctly and safely strung, ready for use.
