Are you looking for a reliable, lightweight, and legally carryable tool for everyday use? This compact folding pocket knife is exactly what your urban or outdoor gear needs. At the heart of the knife is a blade made of premium D2 tool steel, which excels in long-lasting sharpness and, thanks to its matte black finish, does not easily succumb to corrosion or unwanted glares. The ergonomically shaped handle made of layered G10 composite with a distinctive 3D texture ensures a perfectly secure grip in any situation, even with wet palms. The absence of a traditional blade lock (slipjoint mechanism) means you can carry this knife without worry in most countries with stricter weapon legislation, such as the UK. Crimson Raptor D2 Tool Steel Slipjoint: The Ultimate EDC Pocket Companion

Construction and Premium Materials

The core of this practical knife is a 65 mm (2.56") blade crafted from D2 tool steel. This steel, often referred to as semi-stainless, offers exceptional wear resistance and excellent cutting performance. The black coating on the blade not only highlights its tactical appearance but adds an extra layer of protection against humidity. The scales are precisely milled from red and black G10 (a high-pressure fiberglass laminate with epoxy resin), which is extremely strong, lightweight, and resistant to temperature fluctuations and chemicals. On the back of the handle, there is a sturdy steel clip for secure carrying on a pocket edge or belt, and a lanyard hole for a safety cord.

History of Pocket Knives and Modern Use

Folding knives without a fixed lock, also known as Slipjoint knives, have a rich history dating back to Ancient Rome, where the first folding knives with friction mechanisms were discovered. They experienced their golden age in the 19th and 20th centuries as an essential piece of equipment for every man, farmer, or craftsman. Today, this concept is celebrating a massive comeback under the acronym EDC (Every Day Carry). While this model draws from the historical legacy of simple pocket knives, it pushes it into the 21st century through the use of hi-tech materials and modern ergonomics.

You will use this knife in everyday situations – from opening cardboard boxes and preparing snacks on a trip to minor craft work and cutting cords. It is an unobtrusive but immensely effective companion.

Maintenance and Safety Recommendations

D2 steel has a higher carbon content and therefore requires slightly more care than standard stainless steel. After cutting acidic fruit or using it in a damp environment, the blade should always be cleaned and dried. We recommend occasionally treating the blade and the pivot joint with a drop of high-quality gun oil. You can keep the edge geometry in perfect condition using a ceramic sharpener or a fine diamond stone.

Important Safety Note: The blade of this knife lacks a mechanical lock. It is held in the open position only by the pressure of the back spring. During stabbing or heavy pressure on the spine of the blade, there is a risk of it unexpectedly closing on your fingers! The knife is intended exclusively for standard cutting tasks (by pulling or pressing downwards). For safety reasons, this is by no means a weapon suitable for contact combat, self-defense, throwing, or martial arts practice.

We recommend purchasing a high-quality leather belt pouch from our range to protect the knife from scratches, and a robust paracord to create a stylish lanyard for the end of the handle.
