Italian Automatic Stiletto Knife Cocobolo Classic
A Fusion of Deadly Elegance and Natural Beauty
The heart of this knife is an 80 mm (approx. 3.15 inches) Stiletto-style blade (thrusting dagger shape). It is made of AISI 420 stainless steel. This steel is valued in knifemaking for its high corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. Although it does not reach the hardness of modern powder steels, for the purposes of this knife – i.e., ordinary light cutting, opening letters, and above all, display – it is perfectly sufficient and easy to maintain.
What elevates this knife to a collector's gem is the handle. The scales are made of exotic Cocobolo wood. This is a very hard, heavy tropical wood from Central America, known for its beautiful grain and high content of natural oils, making it naturally resistant to moisture and hand contact. The wood darkens over time and acquires a deep, noble patina. The overall look is complemented by polished stainless steel bolsters, which give the knife strength and protect the ends of the handle.

History and Usage
Original stilettos in Italy were weapons designed for combat, capable of penetrating chainmail. This modern folding successor emerged in the early 20th century and became a phenomenon thanks to American soldiers who brought them back as souvenirs from liberated Italy. Today, it serves primarily as a collector's item or a stylish EDC (Everyday Carry) for light tasks.
Safety and Maintenance
As an experienced fencer, I must warn you: the firing mechanism is strong. Always hold the knife firmly when opening and ensure the space in front of the blade is clear. The knife is equipped with a safety lock against accidental opening – please use it. Cocobolo wood is durable, but to maintain its luster, we recommend polishing it occasionally with beeswax or special wood oil. 420 steel is stainless, but rinse and dry the blade after contact with acidic foods (like fruit). Please check local laws regarding the carrying of automatic knives in your area before purchase.
