Scottish Claymore Two-Handed Sword, Decorative Replica

For Display and Admiration

This sword is primarily intended as a decorative display piece. It will look magnificent hanging on the wall of your living room, office, or man cave. You can also use it as a stunning costume accessory for medieval fairs, LARP events, or fantasy festivals. Thanks to its authentic appearance, it also serves as an excellent prop for theatre productions or photoshoots. It is also the perfect gift for fans of Scottish history and films like Braveheart or Highlander.

The Claymore in History

The historic Claymore was the feared weapon of the Scottish Highlanders from the 15th to the 17th century. Its name derives from the Gaelic phrase "claidheamh-mòr", meaning "great sword". In the hands of a skilled warrior, its incredible length and weight could be used to break through enemy pike formations and was effective against both infantry and cavalry. Wielding such a sword required immense strength, skill, and space to manoeuvre.

A Point of Historical Interest

A characteristic feature of the Claymore is its crossguard with forward-sloping quillons (arms), which terminate in a quatrefoil (four-leaf) design. This design wasn't just for show. It allowed a swordsman to effectively trap and bind an opponent's blade, giving the wielder an advantage in close-quarters combat and creating openings for an attack.

How to Care for Your Sword

Although the blade is made from corrosion-resistant AISI 420 stainless steel, we recommend proper care to maintain its shine. Wipe the blade occasionally with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. For extra protection, you can apply a thin coat of conservation oil. The wooden grip can be treated with a quality wood or furniture polish. Keep the sword away from moisture and extreme temperature changes.

Safe Handling Guidelines

Remember, this is a decorative replica, not a functional weapon. The sword is not made for sparring, cutting, or any other contact activity. Even with a blunt edge, its weight and point can cause serious injury. Always handle it with care and ensure it is securely mounted or stored. Keep it out of the reach of children.
