Sword Wall Display with Royal Arms of England (Plantagenet)
A Royal Honour for Your Sword
The plaque, shaped like a classic Gothic shield, is made of wood with an elegant dark brown finish. Its main feature, however, is the precisely depicted Royal Arms of England. This quartered coat of arms combines two powerful symbols of medieval Europe:
- First and Fourth Quarters: Three golden fleurs-de-lis on a blue field (Azure) – the ancient arms of the Kingdom of France.
- Second and Third Quarters: Three golden lions passant guardant (walking and looking towards the viewer) on a red field (Gules) – the arms of the Kingdom of England.
Two brass pegs are discreetly placed on the plaque, designed to securely hold a sword by its hilt. The back is fitted with a metal hanger, ensuring easy and stable mounting on the wall.
History Carved into the Arms: The Hundred Years' War
This particular coat of arms is not just a random decoration. It is the Royal Arms of England adopted by King Edward III of the House of Plantagenet in 1340. By quartering the English lions with the French fleurs-de-lis, he visually declared his claim to the French throne, which became one of the main causes of the legendary Hundred Years' War (1337–1453). The same arms were used by such famous monarchs as Henry V, the victor of Agincourt. Owning this plaque is like having a piece of fascinating and tumultuous history that shaped Europe in your home.
