- From the outside of the sole, carefully hammer a nail through the leather.
- The sharp point of the shank will emerge on the inside of the insole.
- Bend this point over and hammer it flat against the insole. This process, known as "clenching" or "clinching," locks the nail in place and ensures it won't press into your foot.
