Medieval Leather Pouch with Suede Bag and Brass Rivets
Authentic Design and Quality Materials
This belt pouch is cleverly designed from two types of leather. The outer frame, flap, and back loops are made from firm and durable cowhide buff leather (approx. 3–3.3 mm thick) that holds its shape. The storage space itself consists of a soft bag made of genuine suede (approx. 1.2–1.4 mm thick), which is securely riveted to the frame. This design allows the pouch to hold even bulkier items without appearing cumbersome.
The entire construction is reinforced with a series of solid brass rivets, giving the pouch a rustic look. It closes with a flap featuring a hole, which is secured by a leather thong wrapped around a distinctive metal concho button with a patinated finish. On the back, you'll find two strong, riveted loops that allow it to be worn on a belt up to 7.5 cm (3 inches) wide.

A Companion for History and Fantasy
In the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period, belt pouches and bags were a necessity. Garments lacked pockets, so men and women carried all their daily essentials – coins, a tinderbox, keys, amulets, or a small knife – in such pouches hanging from their belts. The use of rivets was not just functional but often decorative, indicating the quality of the item.
Today, this leather pouch is the ideal accessory for your costume at a LARP, historical fencing (HEMA) event, reenactment, or Cosplay (e.g., for Viking, fantasy, or Renaissance characters). It's spacious enough to securely hold your mobile phone, keys, a small wallet, or even foraged herbs, all while perfectly enhancing the authenticity of your kit.
How to Care for Your Pouch
To ensure your pouch serves you well for a long time, it needs a little care. It's made from two different types of leather that require different approaches:
- Smooth Leather (Buff Leather): You can wipe the flap, frame, and loops with a slightly damp cloth. Occasionally (approx. 1-2 times a year), it's a good idea to treat them with a thin layer of leather conditioner (e.g., one with beeswax) to prevent the leather from drying out and cracking.
- Suede (Brushed Leather): NEVER apply conditioner or cream to the suede part! It will lose its texture. Remove dry dirt and dust only when dry, ideally with a special suede brush or a clean, rougher cloth.
- General: Protect the pouch from heavy rain and getting soaked. If it does get wet, let it air dry naturally at room temperature (never on a heater or in direct sunlight!). Store it in a dry, ventilated place.
