A Tool That Can Save a Life
The dominant feature of the knife is the American Tanto style blade. This shape is known for the extreme durability of its tip, which is useful if you need to pierce through tough materials. The blade is made of 440A stainless steel, which holds an edge well and is easy to sharpen. The finish is two-tone – a combination of satin polish and black coating. The edge is partially serrated. These "teeth" are crucial when cutting fibrous materials like ropes, seatbelts, or heavy clothing, where a plain edge might slip.
The handle is made of light metal (aluminium alloy) in signal red and bears a gold emblem with a Fire Department motif. The design ensures the knife won't slip even from wet or sweaty hands. The flipper, used for opening, transforms into an effective finger guard once the blade is deployed.
Integrated Rescue Features
This model is a true multi-functional "Rescue Tool". At the rear of the handle, you will find two vital elements:

Safety and Maintenance
The knife is equipped with a Liner-Lock mechanism that prevents the blade from closing accidentally during use. Remember that the spring mechanism opens the knife very quickly and forcefully, so ensure you have enough space when deploying it. While the stainless steel blade is durable, the opening mechanism and lock should occasionally be blown free of dust (especially if you carry the knife in your pocket) and lubricated with a drop of oil.
To sharpen the serrated part of the blade, I recommend using special tapered sharpeners (e.g., a diamond pen rod); a standard flat stone would ruin the serrations. The plain part of the edge (the Tanto tip) can be sharpened in the standard way.
