Pocket Diamond Sharpener Pen – Tapered Rod for Serrated Blades & Hooks
Ingenious Shape for Specific Tasks
The secret to this sharpener's versatility lies in its tapered (conical) shape. The sharpening rod is coated with a layer of industrial diamond, the hardest known material on earth. Thanks to this, it removes material from the blade very quickly and efficiently, so you don't have to work hard while sharpening. The narrowing profile of the rod allows you to sharpen different sizes of serrations on the blade – from the smallest near the tip to large scallops. Just find the right diameter on the rod that fits into the serration.
The design is very cleverly thought out. In the transport position, the abrasive part is hidden inside the durable casing (handle), so there is no risk of it damaging your pocket or backpack. To use, simply loosen the nut, flip the rod, reinsert it, and secure it. Instantly, you have a full-sized tool with a firm grip.

Why Diamond?
Historically, natural stones (slate, sandstone) were used for sharpening, but they required water or oil, and the process took a long time. With the advent of modern stainless steels with high hardness (like 440C or D2), ordinary stones ceased to be sufficient. Diamond sharpeners represent a revolution in tool maintenance – the hard crystal lattice of the diamond can "cut" even the hardest steel with minimal pressure. Moreover, unlike stones, the diamond surface does not change its shape (it doesn't dish out).
Instructions for Use and Maintenance
When sharpening a serrated edge, proceed tooth by tooth. Place the sharpener into the gullet at an angle that matches the original grind (usually only from one side of the blade). Restore sharpness with gentle strokes away from the edge (or with a circular motion). Never apply heavy pressure to a diamond sharpener! The diamond does the work for you; excessive pressure could strip the crystals from the substrate and ruin the sharpener. After use, simply wipe the rod with a dry cloth or rinse with water and let dry. Avoid dropping it on hard ground, as the carrier rod could bend or break.
I recommend keeping this sharpener handy as a companion to your main knife, because even the best steel will eventually dull, and usually at the least convenient moment.
