This Spartan sword is built around a heavy-duty full-tang construction, meaning the steel tang runs through the entire length of the handle and is peened securely over the pommel. The 1095 high carbon steel blade is well-tempered and features a wide fuller that reduces overall weight while maintaining structural integrity. Solid steel guards and pommel plates provide excellent hand protection. However, for safety reasons, this sword is sold as a decorative item. It is not intended for HEMA sparring, reenactment combat, or stage fighting, as striking steel blades against hard targets can cause damage or injury.

Historical Context and Name Origin

The design of this sword draws direct inspiration from the historical Greek Kopis (or Machaira), widely utilized during the 5th century BC. Recognized by its forward-curved blade, the Kopis shifted its center of gravity toward the point, delivering devastating chopping power in close-quarters battle. We have named this sword in honor of Dienekes, a Spartan warrior renowned for his bravery at the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC.
