Medieval Utility Knife "Camp Life" (1350–1450)

If you are looking for an authentic accessory for your historical costume that won't just hang on your belt but will also handle camp chores, this knife is an excellent choice. With a choice of handle materials, you can match it to your character's status.

A Workhorse for Any Occasion

This knife is designed not as a weapon, but as a tool. The high carbon steel blade features a practical shape with a slightly raised tip (clip point), facilitating both slicing and finer work. The construction is a full-tang design, meaning the steel runs through the entire handle, giving the knife the necessary strength. The edge is double-beveled (V-grind).

Choose the handle material to suit your taste:

  • Hardwood: A classic and durable choice for commoners, soldiers, and craftsmen.
  • Bone: The light-colored handle looks more elegant and cleaner.
  • Horn: A dark, organic look that gives the knife a touch of uniqueness.

The scales are riveted to the tang. Depending on the current production run, the rivets may be solid brass or hollow copper (this variation cannot be chosen in advance). Included is a leather sheath made of genuine cowhide; note that the color of the leather may vary from piece to piece.

Knife Care

Since the blade is made of genuine carbon steel, it is prone to corrosion (rust). This is not a defect, but a characteristic of the historically accurate material. Clean the knife after every use and wipe it completely dry. If you plan to store it for a long time, coat the blade with mineral oil (e.g., WD-40 or gun oil). For frequent use with food, use a food-safe oil (e.g., clove or camellia oil).

Do not wash the knife or sheath in a dishwasher. The natural handle materials would crack. Do not leave the knife stored in the leather sheath for extended periods, as leather absorbs moisture from the air and can cause the blade to rust.

Important Notice

This product is a historical reproduction. Although fully functional, it is not certified for food contact according to modern hygiene standards. Use in the kitchen is at your own risk.
