Historical Context and Occasions for Wear

Shirts of a similar cut represented the absolute foundation of European clothing during the Late Middle Ages and early Renaissance (roughly the 14th to 16th centuries). They were worn by men across all social classes – from simple peasants to townsmen, up to the higher nobility, for whom they became the undergarment beneath more ostentatious outer layers. The wide sleeves gathered at the wrists and the loose torso ensured a full range of motion, which was essential both for manual labour and combat.

Today, you can wear this shirt to a wide spectrum of events. It is absolutely ideal for historical reenactment, LARP, cosplay, and medieval fairs. It also serves excellently as a breathable and absorbent base layer under padded armour (gambeson) during historical fencing (HEMA) practice. Please note that other accessories shown in the photographs, such as necklaces, belts, or trousers, are not included. Material Composition and Care Instructions

This garment is tailored from 100% cotton with an attractive crinkled finish. As a natural fabric, cotton excels at absorbing sweat, is highly breathable, and feels very pleasant against bare skin. The shirt is equipped with durable textile cords for lacing.

To ensure your shirt lasts as long as possible in perfect condition and maintains its specific look, we recommend following these care guidelines:

• Machine washing is possible on a gentle cycle at a maximum temperature of 30 to 40 °C (86 - 104 °F).
• To preserve the colours, use colour-safe detergents without bleaching agents.
• Do not tumble dry the shirt. The hot air could cause it to shrink. We highly recommend letting it air dry naturally while hung on a coat hanger.
• Due to the intentionally crinkled structure of the fabric, ironing the shirt is unnecessary. If you still find it required, iron it only inside out on a low setting suitable for cotton.

We offer this model in four historically accurate colours: natural white, deep black, blue, and red. You simply don the shirt by pulling it over your head after loosening the neckline lacing. You can easily adjust the looseness at the waist using the side lacing cords.
