Luxury Fox Knives "Sciabola del Sommelier" Champagne Sabre in Wooden Case

Italian Design and Premium Materials

The blade of this sabre is made of high-quality T5MOV stainless steel. This material ensures that the sabre remains beautiful and shiny even after many celebrations. On the blade, you will find the elegant engraving "Sciabola del Sommelier" and the manufacturer's logo, confirming its origin and authenticity. The handle is designed to provide a firm and safe grip when delivering the stroke and is complemented by a massive guard that protects your hand.

Since this is a tool designed for sabrage, the edge is blunt. Sabrage is not about cutting, but about a targeted impact and the transfer of kinetic energy. The delivery includes a black designer stand and a wooden gift box, in which the sabre will rest like a jewel when you are not using it.

The Art of Sabrage: Napoleon's Legacy

Sabrage (from the French sabre) is a technique made famous by Napoleon's hussars. After victorious battles, they would open bottles of champagne with a single vigorous slash of their sabre without dismounting from their horses. Napoleon is quoted as saying: "Champagne! In victory one deserves it, in defeat one needs it." Today, this ritual is the highlight of every festive event, wedding, or significant anniversary.

How to Perform Sabrage Safely and Effectively

To ensure the result is perfect and safe, follow this procedure:

  1. Prepare the bottle: The bottle of sparkling wine must be chilled to 3–5 °C. Warm wine would foam too aggressively after opening.
  2. Clean the neck: Remove all packaging material (foil) and the wire cage from the neck.
  3. Find the seam: Locate the longitudinal seam on the bottle. This is where the glass is most stressed and where you will guide the stroke.
  4. Stance and grip: Hold the bottle firmly by the base at an angle of approx. 40–45°. Point the neck into a safe area where no one is standing (the cork flies at high speed!).
  5. Execute the stroke: Lay the sabre flat on the bottle. In a smooth but vigorous motion, guide the blade along the seam towards the neck. The goal is to knock off the glass ring at the end of the neck by impact, not by force or chopping like wood.

Care for Your Sabre

After use, rinse the sabre with lukewarm water to remove sugar and acid residues from the wine, and wipe it dry immediately with a soft cloth. Never put it in a dishwasher! Aggressive detergents could damage the handle and the shine of the blade. The sabre is a decorative and functional tool for opening bottles; it is not intended for fencing or chopping other objects.
