Replacement Arrow Vanes Set – 6.5 cm
Even the best archer misses occasionally, and the arrow ends up in the grass or passes through the target butt in such an unfortunate way that the fletching takes damage. If you want to get your damaged arrows back in the game, this set of replacement polymer vanes with a length of 6.5 cm (approx. 2.5 inches) is exactly what you need. They are made of durable, flexible plastic which, unlike natural feathers, can withstand moisture, rain, and rougher handling. Thanks to their length, these vanes are particularly suitable for shorter arrows, youth bows, or lighter arrows, where a long vane would unnecessarily drag on the flight. The set contains a colour combination of two yellow and one red vane, ensuring excellent visibility and easy orientation when nocking onto the string. Further product information ...

Replacement Arrow Vanes Set – 6.5 cm / 2.5" (2x Yellow, 1x Red)
Home Workshop: How to Replace
Repairing an arrow is not rocket science, but it requires care. These vanes are designed to be glued onto the shaft (they are not push-on). To achieve a professional result, I recommend using a fletching jig, which ensures precise 120-degree spacing. The red vane is usually glued as the so-called index (cock) feather – perpendicular to the nock groove. Before gluing, do not forget to thoroughly clean and degrease the shaft so that the adhesive bonds correctly. These shorter vanes are ideal for repairing arrows such as standard 29" wooden arrows.

History and Materials
While English archers at Crécy relied on goose quills bound with linen thread, modern archery prioritises practicality. Natural feathers are beautiful and authentic, but morning dew is enough to change their flight characteristics. Plastic vanes like these have brought a revolution in consistency to archery. They remain the same whether it is dry or pouring rain. The "parabolic" shape of these vanes is aerodynamically very efficient and quiet in flight.
Care and Maintenance
To keep your repaired arrows flying straight:
- Straightening: If a vane gets bent or crumpled in the quiver, often simply heating it with a hair dryer or dipping it in hot water is enough. The plastic has shape memory and will return to its original state.
- Gluing: Use high-quality glue designed specifically for fletching or a gel-consistency superglue.
- Safety: Never shoot with an arrow where the fletching is partially detaching. It changes the flight path and can be dangerous for you and those around you.
I recommend adding fletching glue to your basket with this set so that you have everything you need for the repair together.
