Muela Mouse Hunting Skinner – Pakkawood – MoVa Steel
Small Tool with Big Potential
The foundation of the knife is a blade made of stainless Molybdenum-Vanadium (MoVa) steel. This alloy is the gold standard of Spanish knifemakers – it holds an edge excellently, is tough, and resists corrosion. The knife features a Full-Tang construction, meaning the steel runs through the entire handle. This gives this "mouse" unexpected strength and stability that you won't find in folding knives.
The handle is made of reddish-brown Pakkawood (laminated wood saturated with resin). This material combines the beauty of natural wood with the durability of modern composites – it is unaffected by moisture, blood, or temperature changes. The scales are attached to the steel with brass rivets. The ergonomic shape ensures the knife fits the palm like a glove, allowing for precise cut control. There is a hole with a leather lanyard at the end of the handle for easy withdrawal from the sheath.
The knife comes with a high-quality leather sheath that securely holds the tool with a snap-button strap.

Usage in History and Today
Short knives with wide blades (skinners) have accompanied hunters since prehistoric times. Their purpose is to separate the hide from the muscle with long strokes, aided by the curved belly of the blade. The Mouse model is a modern interpretation of these tools. Besides hunting, it is excellent for bushcraft carving, food preparation, or mushroom picking.
Care and Maintenance
Clean and dry the knife after each use. If cutting acidic foods (fruit), rinse the blade with water. Although the steel is stainless and the handle stabilized, prolonged moisture in the sheath is detrimental. Treat the leather sheath occasionally with leather wax. Maintain the edge with a fine sharpening stone or steel.
Safety Warning
The knife is small but very sharp. Due to the short blade, your fingers are close to the edge, so exercise extra caution to ensure your hand does not slip while working. The knife does not belong in the dishwasher.
