Tactical American Tanto Knife – Damascus Etched

Combining Tactical Function and Style

The blade of this knife is designed for maximum penetration. The angled tip (American Tanto type) is extremely durable and ideal for piercing or working with harder materials. On the spine of the blade, you will find sawback serrations, which, while not replacing a full-fledged wood saw, serve excellently for creating notches for traps or cutting ropes. The AISI 420 Stainless Steel excels in corrosion resistance and is very easy to sharpen, which you will certainly appreciate in field conditions.

Handle for Survival

The knife features a "skeleton" construction – it is forged from a single piece of steel. Instead of classic scales, the tang is wrapped in a green nylon cord. This solution is not only lightweight and comfortable to grip but also has a practical dimension. In an emergency, you can unwrap the cord to obtain a strong string for building a shelter, repairing gear, or as an emergency tourniquet. The knife is supplied in a green nylon sheath with a retention strap.

Historical Context

While the original Japanese tantō daggers, worn by samurai as a backup weapon to the katana, had a smoothly curved edge, this knife represents a modern Western interpretation called "American Tanto." This angular style became popularized in the 1980s in the USA for tactical and combat knives. While the Bushido code required a samurai to care for their weapon and honor, today you will appreciate modern stainless steel, which requires much less care than historical carbon blades.

Care and Maintenance

Keep the knife clean and dry. If the nylon handle wrap gets wet, let it dry thoroughly in a ventilated area to prevent moisture from getting trapped underneath. Although the steel is stainless, occasional oiling is beneficial. Caution: the sawback can trap dirt, so clean it with a brush after use.

Safety Warning

The knife is a sharp tool. The tanto tip is very strong, but do not use the knife as a pry bar for heavy rocks or crates, as the tip could be damaged. The knife does not belong in the dishwasher.
