Classic Boot Dagger with Black Handle and Brass Fittings
Construction and Design
The knife is designed as a classic dagger with a double-edged blade, ensuring excellent penetration properties.
- Blade: Made of stainless steel, which is a key feature for a knife carried in a boot (where it is humid). The blade has a central ridge for higher rigidity.
- Handle: The handle is made of durable black synthetic material that mimics the look of horn or ebony. It is shaped to prevent slipping in your palm.
- Fittings: The distinct guard and the massive pommel are made of brass. This not only looks great but also shifts the knife's centre of gravity closer to the hand.
- Sheath: Includes a black leather sheath equipped with a steel clip for easy attachment.
How to wear a boot dagger properly?
To ensure the dagger is effective and comfortable, follow a few rules:
- Insert the dagger along with its sheath inside your boot (Wellingtons, combat boots). Right-handers usually wear it on the outside of the right calf, left-handers on the left.
- Insert it deep enough so that the handle protrudes only about 1–2 cm above the edge of the boot. It must be accessible for a quick draw but should not get in the way.
- Use the clip on the sheath to secure it. If you want to be absolutely sure the knife won't slip (e.g., when running), you can tie the lower part of the sheath to your calf using a flat ribbon or lace. Choose a material that won't chafe.
Warning Regarding Throwing
Although the dagger is balanced, bear in mind that it is primarily a stabbing and cutting weapon, not a dedicated throwing knife. If you still decide to throw the knife:
- Use only soft targets: Special foam targets or soft wood (spruce).
- Never throw at hard objects: Oak wood, knots, or trees with hard bark can irreparably damage the edge or cause the knife to break due to impact shock.
- Safety: Throwing at unsuitable targets increases the risk of the knife rebounding and causing injury. Damage caused by throwing is not a material defect but a consequence of improper handling.
