The Legacy of Simplicity

This guard replicates the famous Namako Sukashi style associated with the Higo province and Musashi himself. The design features two symmetrical cutouts representing stability and the duality of the universe. Unlike purely decorative pieces, this design serves a practical purpose: the cutouts reduce the weight of the guard without compromising its structural integrity. This helps to shift the sword's balance point back towards the hand, allowing for faster and more precise strikes – a critical advantage in the duel.

Installation and Usage

This tsuba is compatible with most standard Katana and Wakizashi replicas. However, please be aware that the tang (nakago) of every sword blade varies slightly in size. It is standard practice to file the central hole (nakago-ana) of the tsuba for a custom, rattle-free fit on your specific blade. Seppa (spacers) should be used to ensure a tight assembly.

Care Instructions

To keep your tsuba in pristine condition and free from rust:

• Oil it: Regularly apply a thin layer of mineral oil, Choji oil, or gun oil.
• Keep it dry: Moisture is the enemy of carbon steel. Store in a dry place.
• Wipe it down: Acids from fingerprints can etch the steel over time. Wipe it with a soft cloth after handling.
