"Red Wood" Mushroom Knife with Cleaning Brush

Proven Design for Gentle Harvesting

The knife is equipped with a sickle-curved blade (hawkbill type), which is ideal for mushroom foraging. Thanks to this shape, you can easily reach under the fruiting body and cut it cleanly at the ground without damaging the mycelium. The blade is made of stainless steel, ensuring easy maintenance and resistance to moisture. On the spine of the blade, you will find practical jimping (grooves) which serves as a thumb rest during cutting or can be used to scrape coarse dirt off the mushroom cap.

The handle is made of hardwood with a reddish hue, firmly attached to the knife body with three brass rivets. The wood is ergonomically shaped so the knife fits perfectly in your palm. A cleaning brush made of natural bristles is integrated into the end of the handle, allowing you to easily clean your catch of soil and pine needles before placing it in your basket.

Why Use a Specialized Knife?

Using a special mushroom knife isn't just a matter of style, but primarily of ethics and nature conservation. A clean cut and immediate cleaning of the mushroom prevent rot spores from entering your basket and protect the mycelium in the ground for future growth. The brush at the end of the knife is an irreplaceable helper—remember the old rule that a mushroom should be placed in the basket clean? With this knife, you can do it in seconds.

Knife Care

To ensure the wooden handle retains its beautiful red hue and the steel remains stainless:

  • After returning from the forest: Wipe the knife with a damp cloth and let it dry open. If the brush is dirty, rinse it with water and let it dry with the bristles facing down.
  • No Dishwasher: Never put the knife in the dishwasher. Hot water and chemicals would irreversibly damage the wooden handle and bristles.
  • Treatment: Occasionally treat the wood and the pivot with a drop of oil (e.g., linseed or olive oil).

We recommend purchasing a breathable wicker basket with this knife to ensure your finds don't spoil on the way home.
