This garment transports you to the Early Baroque era, specifically the first half of the 17th century, when Louis XIII established his elite unit of Musketeers of the Guard. Aramis, a character known for his refined taste, would certainly appreciate the combination of rich blue velvet and delicate lace. The centerpiece of the set is the cassock (the famous blue tabard), which served as an essential identification mark for the guardsmen of that period. It is adorned with a white cross and the fleur-de-lis motif, the quintessential symbol of the French monarchy. The set includes a period-accurate shirt featuring a striking lace collar and cuffs with adjustable lacing. The breeches, styled in the typical Baroque fashion, are designed for freedom of movement – with elastic elements at the waist and below the knees, you can comfortably dance or fence. The look is completed by a felt hat embellished with a genuine ostrich feather, an inseparable part of a gallant gentleman's silhouette.

This product is ideal for re-enactment, historical reconstructions, theatrical performances, themed balls, or LARP. While the costume is highly authentic in appearance, please note that it is not protective armor. The fabrics are not intended to shield you from weapon strikes during full-contact combat (such as HEMA or Buhurt). If you intend to participate in choreographed stage combat, we recommend wearing a light padded layer, such as a gambeson or padded coif, beneath the costume for your comfort. The ostrich feather on the hat is sensitive to heavy rain and mechanical stress. Never bend the feather and keep it away from moisture to maintain its plumage. If the hat gets wet, let it air dry at room temperature away from direct heat sources, which could warp the felt.

Maintenance and Care

To ensure your ensemble serves you well for years, follow these care instructions:

• Velvet Cassock: Professional dry cleaning only. Never iron velvet directly on the face side, as it will crush the pile permanently.
• Linen Shirt: Hand wash or machine wash on a delicate cycle up to 30°C (approx. 86°F). Iron while slightly damp on a high setting.
• Breeches: Wash at 30°C. Avoid aggressive detergents or bleach to preserve the color.
• Storage: Store the garment on a hanger in a breathable garment bag to prevent creasing and dust accumulation.

Recommended Accessories

To achieve a perfectly authentic 17th-century look, we recommend pairing this set with a rapier or a swept-hilt sword from the mid-1600s. A leather bandolier (shoulder belt for the sword) and tall leather bucket-top boots are also essential additions to complete the musketeer aesthetic. Please be aware that accessories such as footwear or weapons shown in the images are not included in the delivery.
