This garment draws inspiration from the courtly fashion of the High and Late Gothic periods (14th and 15th centuries). During this era, European ladies began to discard loose tunics in favour of elegantly fitted dresses that emphasized the female form. A typical sign of high nobility was long, richly draped, and flared sleeves, which demonstrated that the wearer did not have to perform manual labour. Likewise, the use of contrasting, visually rich fabrics with floral or brocade patterns was a privilege of the wealthy classes. Today, this dress is the ideal choice for historical re-enactment, fantasy LARP, or as a majestic theatrical costume for a queen, princess, or wealthy burgher's wife.

The dress is meticulously tailored from high-quality natural materials that guarantee excellent appearance and breathability. The base consists of sturdy cotton (100% cotton), while certain parts utilize a durable linen blend (70% linen, 30% cotton). The front panel and the striking bell sleeves are made from a fabric featuring a prominent golden floral motif on a burgundy background, evoking expensive historical brocade. The wide sleeves are effectively lined with black fabric to highlight the contrast. The back of the dress is equipped with long, practical lacing, allowing for a perfect fit to your body measurements.

Care and Maintenance

To ensure the dress maintains its luxurious appearance, vibrant colours, and shape in the long term, we highly recommend taking it to a professional dry cleaner. If you choose to maintain it at home, exclusively use a very gentle hand wash in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Never wring out the fabric by twisting it roughly, and absolutely avoid using a tumble dryer. Dry the dress flat in the shade. Always iron on the reverse side on a low to medium setting.

Important Note and Recommended Accessories

Please note that any small pieces of jewellery and the under-chemise are not included in the delivery. You will receive the outer Gothic dress itself.

To achieve a perfect historical look and the layered effect with narrow inner sleeves, we strongly recommend wearing a long linen or cotton chemise (underdress) beneath this gown. Your noble outfit will be perfectly completed by a period-appropriate head covering, such as a hennin, a wimple, or a decorated 15th-century coif, along with a slender, elegant leather belt.
