Simple Medieval Tunic / Undertunic Gunther – Black Cotton
Design and Usage
This tunic is designed with versatility in mind. It is made from 100% cotton, which makes it soft against the skin and highly breathable. You can wear it in two main ways:
- As an Undertunic (Base Layer): If you wear authentic woollen outer garments, you know they can be itchy. Wearing the Gunther tunic underneath protects your skin from irritation and protects your outer garments from sweat, reducing the need for frequent washing of heavy woollens.
- As a Summer Tunic: In warm weather, it functions perfectly as a light, airy standalone tunic. The black colour is practical and stylish for a variety of roles, from rogues to night watchmen.
The cut is based on patterns from the Early and High Middle Ages, utilising simple rectangular shapes. It features a round neckline with a central slit that can be worn open or tied with the attached string. Side slits at the hem ensure you have full freedom of movement for running, fighting, or working.
