The Puukko is the quintessential Scandinavian fixed blade, designed for versatility and durability. This model features an approx. 8 cm (3.15 inches) blade made from high carbon steel. Carbon steel is favoured by outdoorsmen for its ability to take a razor-sharp edge and for being easy to sharpen in the field. The blade retains a dark scale finish on the flats, giving it a rustic, hand-forged appearance.
The handle is a true highlight, featuring alternating layers of curly birch (also known as Masur birch) and reindeer antler. Its barrel shape fills the hand comfortably, providing excellent grip and control even when wearing gloves or working in cold conditions. Natural materials like wood and antler feel warm to the touch, unlike synthetic handles.
Usage and Historical Context

Care Instructions

- Handle Care: The wood and antler can be treated occasionally with linseed oil or beeswax to protect them and enhance the grain.
- Sheath Care: Keep the leather supple with a quality leather balm or beeswax.
- Avoid: Never wash this knife in a dishwasher.
