Woolen Viking Dress "Celeste" – Natural Twill (100% Wool)
Design and Material
This dress is woven in a classic twill weave, a technique favoured in the Early Middle Ages for its durability and drape. The design follows historical patterns with a loose fit, featuring gores (triangular fabric inserts) at the sides to add width and swing to the skirt. With its simple round neckline and long sleeves, it is the quintessential T-tunic shape that formed the basis of medieval fashion.
Versatility in Wear
The "Celeste" dress is designed to be the workhorse of your wardrobe:
- As an Underdress (Kirtle): Wear it beneath a coloured apron dress (hangeroc) or a surcoat. The wool provides excellent insulation, keeping you warm during chilly evenings at camp.
- As a Standalone Dress: Paired with a belt and pouch, it functions as a modest everyday dress.
Please Note: The natural-coloured wool fabric is slightly transparent. If worn as an outer layer, we recommend wearing a linen chemise underneath or ensuring you have appropriate undergarments.

Care Instructions
Wool is a self-cleaning natural fibre, but when washing is necessary:
- Hand wash only in cold or lukewarm water using a specialized wool detergent.
- Do not tumble dry. Dry flat to maintain the shape.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes during washing to prevent felting.
